ESTEBAN AND HIS ABUELITA CHILO

ESTEBAN's FIRST PLANE RIDE: TRIP TO VISIT HIS ABUELITOS CORNEJO
May 27: Esteban's first plane ride! He did very well on his first flight. On our last family trip to Elk Grove, he also did very well and slept most of the six-hour road trip, with the exception of one feeding, where we stopped for an hour to feed and change him (in the back seat of our car). One of the things we now look for our "baby-friendly" restaurants that have accommodations to change our Esteban!

ESTEBAN's NOAH's ARK ROCKER - MUSICAL ROCKING CHAIR
Monsignor Kevin Kostelnik and Lydia Henley of the Cathedral of the Angels gave Esteban this beautiful Noah's Ark Rocking Chair to celebrate his arrival into our family! Our heartfelt thanks for the many blessings (when Lupita was expecting, and every time Msgr. Kevin has seen Baby Esteban he receives a special blessing), prayers and the lovely rocking chair.
As soon as Esteban can raise his head or sit on his own, we'll have a photo with him on it!

LUPITA'S BIRTHDAY PARTY
Thank you to all our friends and family who joined us to celebrate Lupita & Patty’s birthday!!
The night was filled with great company, good conversation, a delicious meal, viewing of the Lakers game and Dodger game, and even a bit of poker!
A big heartfelt thank you to my sister-in-law Liliana -- the AMAZING cook -- for preparing the fabulous pozole, the hot and the double-super hot salsas, and dessert. Sincere thanks to my mom for all the advance work, prep work, cleaning and the day of duties! And to my loving husband for coordinating the party! Esteban slept through most of the party, and my grandmother (his great-grandmother) took care of him when he was awake so that his parents could be proper hosts.

ESTEBAN NAPS FOR 4 1/2 HOURS DURING THE DAY!
This week: Jose, Lupita & Esteban witnessed Miquitzl's First Holy Communion at Resurrection Church (the daughter of one of mami's best friends); we went to Tia Bertha's house for a BBQ; and Lupita & Esteban had several mami post-op appointments. No photos.
May 21: Esteban takes his long nap during the day! Yahoo! He slept from 2:30 pm to 7:00 pm.At one of our recent posts, we mentioned we are working to have Esteban take his long nap during the day so that he can play with his Papi when he gets home from work. He was exhausted and fussy so Mami fed him, bathed him and he slept for several hours. He woke up for a quick 10-minute feeding session during his nap, and then fell asleep again.
As much as I would like to take credit for re-working his nap schedule, the truth is . . . Esteban determines that! That said, I will keep trying so that he is on a schedule by the time I return to work.

DULCE CELEBRATES HER 3rd YEAR AT THE SANCHEZ HOUSEHOLD
May 14th marked the 3rd year anniversary of Dulce coming into our lives. We got her at Rose Hills Cementary on Mother's Day 2006 (the first Mother's Day without my Dad). We are convinced my dad was sending my mom a Mother's Day gift from Heaven!!

ESTEBAN TAKES A 4 1/2 HOUR NAP!
May 14th: Esteban took a 4 1/2 hour nap today! We have worked hard on getting him to take longer naps . . . now we need to work on making him take his nap earlier in the day. Next, we will work to try to get him to sleep four to five hours straight during the night.
Today's nap: 6:30 pm to 11:00 pm. Blog-worthy! Esteban relaxes on his Papi after we awakes from his nap.
Today was a quiet day of lots of rest.

ESTEBAN & LUPITA GO TO NURSING CLASS AT KAISER PERMANENTE
May 12th: Esteban went on a nice, short stroller ride to Kaiser Permanente. He looked precious in his Winnie the Pooh khaki slacks and blue button-down shirt. He loves stroller rides, and car rides too.
ESTEBAN'S TWO MONTH OLD DOCTOR'S VISIT: 14.6 POUNDS, 24 1/4 INCHES
May 11th: Esteban's Two Month Old doctor's visit

Our healthy baby boy is in the 95 percentile of weight, up from being in the 55 percentile at four days old. Doctor said he's doing fabulous.

May 11th: Esteban's pediatrician gives him a thorough examination.
May 11th: Esteban gets his very FIRST vaccination. He did very well . . . he didn't cry, but his parents came very close to it! The nurse placed a "conejito" band-aid on Baby Cornejo's thigh . . . love it! 
With Esteban's recent weight gain, he has now outgrown Pampers Swaddlers New Baby Size 1-2! We checked his temperature today with a thermometer-pacifier and he LOVED the pacifier. We have not introduced him to a pacifier.
LUPITA'S VERY FIRST MOTHER'S DAY!
May 10th: Jose, Lupita & Esteban celebrate Lupita's very first Mother's Day with Mass at the Cathedral of our Lady of the Angels. Prior to heading to Mass, Jose cooked breakfast for Lupita!

SHORT HIATUS: OUR REGULAR BLOG ENTRIES WILL RESUME BY MOTHER'S DAY
Short hiatus while Lupita was in the hospital this week. Frequent entries will resume by Mother's Day -- Lupita's FIRST Mother's Day!
We didn't have time to take photos this week, except we really wanted to document when he turned 2-months old! Papi was busy with Esteban this week, while his Mami was in the hospital. Papi had help this week, while he made milk runs to the hospital -- many, many thanks to Abuelita Juanita, Tia Liliana & Tio Richard, Tia Patty for helping to take care of our Baby Esteban. Tia Cindy made a milk run to the hospital, but her new work schedule at the women's jail didn't allow her to spend more time in the valley. Primo Juan made one urgent run to the ER. We didn't want Esteban to come near the coodie-filled hospital, so we greatly appreciated the Sanchez' loving, helpful hands to help the Cornejos!
At week eight, Esteban is much more active and alert. This week, he learned a new way to cry -- while he was drinking mami's milk in two-ounce nursette bottles, Abuelita/Patty/Lili would have to replenish with another nursette and he'd throw this arms above his head, turn red in the face, stretch out his legs and cry as if he hadn't been fed in a week! Mami was sad she was not here to see it for the first time.
Be prepared to see a much more alert newborn in the coming photos! Stay tuned . . .
